Evergreen Currant, Catalina perfume
A California native evergreen shrub that grows up to three feet high and eight feet wide. Fragrant pink flowers that bloom in the spring through winter are followed by red berries. It is a good ground cover for dry shade, it is also non invasive. If it is mulched heavily it can tolerate extreme heat and drought. You can prune back vigorous vertical shoots that outline the plant. You can also pinch young plants to encourage dense growth.
